UNION COUNTY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A man is back in jail after a second DWI arrest last week, according to the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

On the evening of Monday, July 29, Tristan Watson was arrested by deputies with the Sheriff’s Alcohol Field Enforcement (S.A.F.E.) Unit.

Deputies say Watson was found asleep inside his running vehicle at Jim Parker Road and Weddington Road. His two-year-old child was in the back seat, and Watson was considerably impaired.

The toddler was turned over to a family member. Watson was charged with Misdemeanor Child Abuse and Driving While Impaired and given a $5,000 secured bond.

During the evening of Friday, August 2, authorities got a Be On the LookOut (BOLO) for a possibly impaired driver on Highway 74. Deputies stopped the vehicle in the Sun Valley area, and Watson was found to be behind the wheel.

Investigators say Watson had bonded out of jail less than four hours before the BOLO went out. Watson is facing a Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance charge and another Driving While Impaired charge.

He was booked back into Union County Detention and remains there under a $7,500 secured bond.
