Of all the surprising things happening with the New York Mets this year, this short clip may be the funniest. If you follow baseball than you know the Mets organization has been in shambles for awhile. The team has missed the playoffs in all but two seasons since making it to the World Series in 2015, finishing with a losing record 5 times and somehow finding a way to squander a 101 win season in 2022 by losing in the Wild Card round. On-field bloopers go viral constantly, like former pitcher
Jorge Lopez firing his glove into the crowd after getting ejected, and it looked like it was going to be another disappointing season until an unlikely hero appeared to turn their season around. Heading into June 12th, the Mets sat 8 games under .500 with a 29-37 record, last in their division, when they tagged the McDonald's character Grimace to throw out the first pitch . Somehow that caused the team to win their next 7 games and 11 of their next 13 to bring their record up to a flat 39-39, second in the division behind the Phillies. Memories of the Dollar Dog night gone wrong are way in the rearview and every fan in the building has been having the time of their lives as of late, well, I guess with one notable exception... During Wednesday night's game against the Yankees, Mets pitcher Adrian Houser took the hill to face Anthony Volpe, but as he entered his windup and the camera angle switched from a close up of the batter to the classic view, we saw something wild happening behind home plate. Two police officers can briefly be seen walking a man in handcuffs across the screen while a third officer trails behind them. The man is wearing a wife-beater and looked like something straight out of a mafia movie. Unfortunately, there's no details on why exactly he was put in cuffs but man, just when you think there's only positive things happening at Citi Field we see this. Honestly, it was probably a Yankees fan, those guys straight up stink. One of the funniest comment I saw still has me laughing:
"Rumor has it that he was selling fake gabagool in the stadium" Even when they're playing well, it's always an interesting night when the Mets play. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C8uO_KsMKYw/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
