New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo.

New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo began Tuesday's 7-2 extra-innings win at the Washington Nationals recovering from a fainting episode he suffered early Monday morning.

He ultimately delivered a clutch game-tying RBI single in the top of the eighth inning of the victory.

"Really enjoying the moments tonight ... getting the big hits, just soak them in because not every day's like that," Nimmo said following a result that improved the Mets to 42-41 on the season, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN) and Phillip Martinez of SNY. "When things like this happen, it's a fresh perspective on being able to play this game and being able to play it at this level on a daily basis. When it's taken away from you briefly, you realize just how special it is, and you start to enjoy the little things a little bit more."

Nimmo sat out New York's extra-innings win over Washington on Monday but was called into action Tuesday evening after fellow outfielder Harrison Bader crashed into the right-center-field wall in the fourth inning. Along with his eighth-inning heroics, Nimmo added an RBI double in the top of the 10th.

"You never know how a game is going to work out but glad to be able to come through in those situations for those guys," Nimmo explained. "It’s definitely fun playing right now."

The vibes within the Mets clubhouse continue to generate baseball-related headlines, as a team that ended June 11 at 28-37 began Wednesday just one game back in the battle for the National League's final wild-card playoff spot.

Any talk about New York possibly selling ahead of the July 30 trade deadline has been replaced with rumors regarding the club potentially adding to its roster.

"To get back to it quickly is key," Nimmo said about wanting to contribute to the team's ongoing run of form. "You want to stay in the game speed of things. To get back there is huge. It helped me acclimate to [Tuesday’s] game."

The Mets play two more contests at the 39-46 Nationals before the Amazins begin a four-game series at the 40-44 Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday night.

Theoretically, New York's schedule should give the club a handful of opportunities to at least stay above .500 through next week's homestand.
