New York Mets Lose Ace Pitcher For The Season On Freak Play

The New York Mets season has felt like a rollercoaster ride. After starting the season 0-5, they had seemingly turned their season around going 12-3 over the next 15 games. But then, things went south -- again.

The Mets went to bed on June 2nd with a 24-35 record, and all seemed lost -- again. BUT, after Grimace gave them a kickstart in the right direction, getting their ace pitcher, Kodai Senga, back on the mound seemed like all they needed to land in the playoffs for the first time since 2022.

The Mets did get Senga back on the mound on Friday night for his season debut. It was going really well too. He had made it through 5 and 1/3 innings, giving up just 2 earned runs, and striking out 9 batters. And then, a door opened, and a routine pop-up entered:

This is the absolute worst thing that could have happened to the Mets. They may be buyers (sort of) ahead of the trade deadline, but this will impact their attempt to reach the postseason. Mets manager, Carlos Mendoza, all but confirmed the severity of Senga's injury on Saturday:

With just three days to go before the trade deadline, the Mets rollercoaster hasn't come to a full stop just yet. If this picture doesn't say a thousand words, we don't know what does:
