Preparations and demolition of the Capital One tower in Lake Charles are underway as they get set to knock it to the ground in a few months. If you drive into downtown Lake Charles you will surely see the Capital One tower which has all boarded up since 2020 when Hurricane Laura devastated Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana.
Company to Build $3.5M Manufacturing Facility at the Port of Lake Charles
LAKE CHARLES, La. – From Louisiana Economic Development:. Specialty industrial mechanical contractor Process Service Specialists announced it will invest $3.5 million over the next three years to establish a manufacturing facility at the Port of Lake Charles. The new facility will provide commercial and industrial steel, piping and comprehensive services to customers around the world, particularly in the semiconductor, solar panel, petrochemical and energy industries.

As Louisiana insurance rates keep rising, so do frustrations
A Louisiana businessman says his insurance rates are up over 40% and he’s not sure how long he can take it. Todd Hine, owner of Hine Environmental Services, a small waste services business in Sulphur, says he’s been told auto insurance rates are going up because of the state’s legal climate. He likens it to a casino, saying, “all these people go in and go in. And then, you have these people where every now and then, if they get into an accident, they’ll hit the jackpot. But we as the citizens pay for it every single time.”

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Four Lake Charles residents will be honored this weekend for their patriotism. They are KPLC Hometown Heroes we have honored in the past. For the last 16 years, the Mayor’s Armed Forces Commission has held its Patriot’s Ball, a chance for the City of Lake Charles to honor its military citizens. This year, four will be recognized for their patriotism to the community.
Lake Charles trash pickup rescheduled for Fourth of July holiday
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Trash and garbage will not be collected by the City of Lake Charles on the Fourth of July. Trash normally picked up on Thursday will be picked up on Friday, July 5. Trash picked up on Friday will be picked up on Saturday, July 6. Monday and Tuesday routes will remain on their regular schedules.

Construction ramps up on Nelson Bridge Extension Project
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A game-changer is what lawmakers, landowners and developers are calling the new bridge that is set to go over Contraband Bayou. The Nelson Road Bridge Extension Project broke ground in 2023.
