We're back with the places around the Triangle we enjoyed the most in the past month.

    • For June, we're highlighting everything from a lunch in Hillsborough to a dinner in Apex, along with hiking in Orange County and remote working near downtown Raleigh.

Here are the places your Axios Raleigh reporters and editor enjoyed the most.

    Zachery's picks

    • ☕️ Left Hook Coffee in Raleigh — You'll often find us writing this newsletter there, sipping on their coffee or nibbling on their scones.
    • 🍺 State of Beer in downtown Raleigh —  The sandwiches here rival the quality of the beer selection. Also, the bartenders curate an incredible sound via rotating vinyl records.
    • 🌮 NuvoTaco in Durham — A go-to spot for tacos and margaritas. When in doubt, NuvoTaco always is solid and there for you.
    • 🍣 Akami Sushi Bar in Apex — Elite sushi tucked inside of a gas station . Once you're inside you can hardly believe you're in a spot right off the highway. Let the chef pick your sushi for you.
    • ☕️ Omie's Coffee Shop in Durham — A calming oasis on busy Roxboro St. that also roasts excellent batches of coffee.

    Katie's picks

    • 🌳 Hollow Rock Nature Park — We headed to Hollow Rock Nature Park for a Father's Day hike. Great way to experience the Duke Forest. Be sure to get there early in the day, before it gets too hot, and wear bug spray.
    • 🥯 Isaac's Bagels in Durham — I'm still thinking about the whitefish salad on everything bagel from Isaac's in Durham. It's truly one of the best I've had, ever. Note that the shop doesn't have indoor seating, but there are some outdoor tables around the corner.
    • 🥪 Ideal's Sandwich and Grocery in Durham — These homemade sesame hoagies really made the sandwiches special.
    • 🍔 Al's Burger Shack in Chapel Hill — Dinner the other night was at Al's Burger Shack as a family in Chapel Hill. I can see why they call it one of the best burgers around.
    • 🍪 Hillsborough Bakeshop in Hillsborough — Drove out to explore Hillsborough recently and stopped by Hillsborough Bake Shop for some afternoon fuel — cakey, rich black and white cookies the size of your face.
