RANDLEMAN, N.C. (WGHP) — A woman who was charged with indecent liberties by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office has been suspended from her teaching job.

On July 1, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office got a report of sexual allegations and began investigating.

Following an investigation, detectives charged 39-year-old Britney Marie Vernon with three counts of felony indecent liberties with a student and three counts of felony sex acts with a student.

On Wednesday, Vernon was served at the Randolph County Detention Center where she was issued a $75,000 bond.

Randolph County Schools says that Vernon was a health science teacher at Randleman High School. She’s worked for the school district since 2018 and has been at RHS since August 2023. Currently, she is suspended with pay, according to the school district.
