LINCOLN — Eleven lawmakers will host two listening sessions on property taxes in the state’s two most populous cities after Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen opted out of doing so. Pillen, in his quest to reform property taxes, crisscrossed the state, visiting 26 cities in May and June for town halls to pitch his evolving reform plans. He asked Nebraskans to offer feedback and to pressure state senators to support his ideas, although senators later said they received little feedback.

Severe weather rips through Custer County, causes power outages
Broken Bow, Neb. (KNOP) - Severe weather ripped through Custer County Tuesday evening knocking down power lines and leaving residents without electricity. A storm spotter observed a tornado a few miles west of the city, causing the National Weather Service to issue a tornado warning around 6:55 p.m. By 7:30 p.m., powerful winds tore through the roof of a dance studio on 5th Avenue in Broken Bow.
