Dallas Center Family Apart of Seven to Receive 2024 Way We Live Award
Photo belongs to the Brewer Family in Dallas Center, IA. A family from the Dallas Center area joins six others as recipients of a special award. The Iowa State Fair has selected Brewer Farms out of Dallas Center as a representative for the 2024 Way We Live Award. According to the State Fair Association, this is the 16th year the award has been given out, recognizing 89 Iowa families. Brewer Farms has been in operation since 1875, serving Dallas Center with 125 cow/calf pairs. The fair association claims that family members are involved with the Dallas County Fair on some level each year.
Panorama Days Events for Friday
The annual Panorama Days get started tomorrow. Panora Chamber Coordinator Erica Matthies says that this is the favorite time of the year for many in the community, with Panorama Days taking place this weekend. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio what she enjoys about the festivities as a business owner and as a community member.

The Dallas County Hospital is preparing to have an event for children ahead of the new school year. The hospital is gearing up for the debut of a back to school bash in the City of Perry Tuesday afternoon from 3-4:30pm. City of Perry Encouraging Residents to Monitor Grass Height
The City of Perry is offering a friendly reminder about keeping grass at a manageable level. The state of Iowa is receiving a good amount of rainfall causing grass to grow at a faster rate than normal. The City of Perry states that grass, weeds, or brushes over eight inches are permitted in residential, business, or commercial areas. The city explains that for agricultural areas, grass may not exceed 15 inches in height.
2024 Special Census is Extended
The 2024 Special Census is nearing completion, but we still have residents who have not been included in our updated population count yet. Due to heat and storms, field representatives from the U.S. Census Bureau are extending their time knocking on doors into mid-August. If you get a visit, please answer the door. It only takes a few minutes to complete the short questionnaire about the number of people in your household. Remember to check your door for a Notice of Visit if a census worker visited when you were not home. Call the number to talk to the local field office and complete the census questions over the phone. Your five minutes can make a positive impact on Waukee for years to come!
Perry Chamber Holds Successful 2nd Street Block Party
The Perry Chamber has the total number of guests from a recent fun summer event. The chamber held its third annual 2nd Street Block Party on July 19th featuring live music, food from nearby restaurants and a social opportunity for residents 21 years and older. Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti reveals that the block party was just shy of 400 attendees. She acknowledges that the event is newer and it will take a few more years to increase the numbers.

Severe thunderstorm warning until 9:15 p.m. for Perry area
The city of Perry activated its storm sirens at 8 p.m. Wednesday during a severe thunderstorm warning that will last until 9:15 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 6 miles southwest of Gray to 7 miles southwest of Guthrie Center to 5 miles northwest of Macksburg, moving east at 50 mph, according ng to the national Weather Service offices on Johnston.
