Seattle Public Schools approves 2024-2025 school year budget; deficit cut to $94M
Seattle Public Schools has adopted its budget for the 2024-2025 school year, including using a short-term loan to lower the district's budget deficit. The General Fund Operating Budget for the 2024-2025 school year is set at $1.25 billion. General fund revenue is projected to be approximately $1.3 billion for next school year, meaning total revenue does not cover the district’s planned spending. As a result, the district is utilizing a loan to cover the deficit.

Associated Student Body (ASB)
An Associated Student Body (ASB) is a formal organization of students, including sub-component or affiliated student groups, formed at each public school within Seattle Schools. The programs of the ASB are any optional, noncredit, extra-curricular activity conducted in whole or in part by or on behalf of an ASB, during or outside regular school hours, within or outside school grounds and facilities and conducted with the approval of the school district or under the official designee to whom authority has been delegated to act on behalf of an ASB or sub-component group. ASB programs and activities must be of a cultural, athletic, recreational or social nature benefitting the ASB.

149 graduate from GHC at Stafford Creek Corrections Center extension
Grays Harbor College awarded 149 degrees and certificates to graduates at Stafford Creek Corrections Center last week. The college tells KXRO that at the Commencement Ceremony, GHC awarded the following degrees and certificates: 84 High School Diplomas, 30 Construction Trade Apprenticeships, 14 High School Equivalencies (GED), 11 Associate of Applied Science in Business Management degrees, eight Welding Technology certificates, and the first-ever Associate of Arts Direct Transfer Degree that GHC has awarded at Stafford Creek.
