Embark on a transformative journey through time, memory, and the vast expanse of the ocean with the Providence Public Library's latest exhibition, "From Hold to Horizon." This unique event, created by the dynamic duo Kei Soares Cobb and Becci Davis, invites the community to a guided exploration of self and shared histories.

On Saturday, May 4th, from 1pm to 3pm, the library's Joan T. Boghossian Gallery will transform into a space of reflection and discovery. Participants are encouraged to immerse themselves in the experience, which includes a guided journey of the horizon and journaling as rituals of transformation, all set within the evocative "From Hold to Horizon" exhibition. To delve fully into this experience, guests are advised to arrive before 3:15pm.

The exhibition itself is a profound meditation on Liberation, delving into our intricate ties with the ocean, sovereignty, and the economies of capture. It prompts visitors to confront poignant questions about identity, location, and collective experience, guided by the nineteenth-century whaling voyages of Captain William Martin, one of New England’s most notable Black whaling-ship captains.
