A special Red Cedar Choir spring concert will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the theatre of the Fine Arts Building at UW-Eau Claire – Barron County, 1800 College Drive, Rice Lake. The 66-member ensemble will be joined by 60-plus members of UW-Eau Claire’s Symphonic Choir and members of the UW-EC Percussion Studio.

The Red Cedar Choir will begin the concert with "All That Hath Life and Breath Praise Ye the Lord," "Down by the Valley Gardens," "Sure on This Shining Night" and "O, Mistress Mine!" directed by Elizabeth Joosten and accompanied by Barbara Lancaster.

The UW-Eau Claire Symphonic Choir will take the stage for "Dirait-on," "Ring Out," "Ye Bells" and "Butterfly Lullaby" under the direction of Christopher McGinley, accompanied by Emmett McMorrow.

Then both ensembles will perform highlights from "Carmina Burana" by Carl Orff. The 120-plus vocalists will be accompanied by Lancaster and Liz Wilson and joined by members of the UW-Eau Claire Percussion Studio.

Admission is a freewill donation in support of the campus’ music productions. A reception will follow in the adjoining Salter Art Gallery for musicians and concert attendees. Parking in the Northwood Technical College west lot (South Street access) is encouraged.

The Red Cedar Choir is a joint effort between the UW-Eau Claire – Barron County and UWEC-BC Continuing Education. It is comprised of campus students and community members who rehearse weekly during the fall and spring semesters. Joosten has been directing the group since 2012.
