    Police Logs: Child run over in parking lot

    The police dispatch center receives several hundred calls weekly. The small sampling below shows their diversity.

    Monday, June 247:19 a.m. 911 caller says he is out with a young boy who was in the middle of the street by himself. Caller doesn’t recognize the child and the child doesn’t know where he lives. 7:23 a.m. Received a 911 call from female subject advising she is missing her 8-year-old son. She advised he does have Down Syndrome and she is out on foot looking for him. Advised her he is near Kern and Slocumb. 7:30 a.m. Mother arrived on scene and took custody of the child. Everything is 10-2. Rice Lake.

    7:49 a.m. Caller is looking for her vehicle that was involved in a crash last night. Advised it was near Barron and a bridge was involved. Unable to locate anything. Checked with Dunn County and they did not have anything involving the vehicle. Checked with towing companies and nobody had the vehicle. 2:23 p.m. We don’t know where her vehicle is. Rice Lake.

    8:11 a.m. There is a woman’s rights protest taking place on the corner of Allen and Main. They are on the sidewalk and officer will check on them later. Rice Lake.

    8:47 a.m. Caller says she was doing a prank on her mother on Snapchat and after the fact noticed her mother’s credit card was in the post. Caller was advised to let her mother know this happened and to have the card canceled. 2nd Ave., Clayton.

    9:45 a.m. Caller wants to speak to a deputy in reference to her son sending money to an individual he met online. She advised he has sent at least $400 in the last couple of weeks and is now getting cash app cards in the mail. 10:19 a.m. Subject was counseled on internet safety and they were given options for their financial institutions. Sprague Ave., Prairie Farm.

    11:15 a.m. Caller says his 94-year-old wife went for a walk and has not came back. Staff has been searching for her but has not been able to find her. Contacted staff and they advised they have been trying to find her. 11:32 a.m. Have located wife back by the woods. 11:38 a.m. Wife was returned to staff. Bear Paw Ave., Rice Lake.

    7:58 p.m. Manager of restaurant says an employee received a scam call from someone who told her to take all the money from the register and go buy gift cards and give him the numbers. The employee took the money and bought gift cards and gave the caller the numbers. He said he was from the U.S. Treasury. Highways 8 & 63, Turtle Lake.

    10:22 p.m. Caller says someone hit a bear in front of their house. He does not know who it was and they continued on their way. Bear is on the shoulder of the road and is still alive. Received a call from the driver who hit the bear and he advised that there is over a $1,000 worth of damage. He was advised to do a self report. 10:51 p.m. Bear was dispatched. The land owner is using his skid steer to remove it from the roadway. 19th St., Rice Lake.

    Tuesday, June 253:18 p.m. Dog in the car for over 30 minutes. 3:32 p.m. Officer is contacting the owner, dog is hot. 3:33 p.m. Owner returned and he was counseled. West Ave., Rice Lake.

    3:49 p.m. Caller says a vehicle went through the roundabout and hit a light pole at the Highway O and 53 northbound roundabout. Received another call that this is a diabetic issue. Paged MMC. Requested mutual aid. 3:53 p.m. Light pole down in the median. Contacted utilities. 4:09 p.m. Driver has contacted AAA. Rice Lake.

    5:12 p.m. Event in the park tonight, there is a homeless person sleeping in front of the door. 5:25 p.m. Man was asked to move from the area. Stout St., Rice Lake.

    10:28 p.m. Caller says she had a warning on her door from an officer about her dog barking all day. Caller thinks this is due to her neighbor who is “verbally abusive” to her making a complaint. She would like to speak with someone. Officer spoke to the RP, advised her to contact her landlord or get a TRO regarding issues with her neighbors. Allen St., Rice Lake.

    Wednesday, June 263:50 a.m. 911 caller says there is a child walking down side of the road. Wearing a diaper and shirt. About 6 years old. Walking north on the southbound side of the road. 4:01 a.m. Officer requests more units, kid is running into traffic. 4:01 a.m. Other units can cancel, caught her. 4:40 a.m. Officer spoke with the parents about her getting out. 1st St., Cameron.

    7:55 a.m. Caller lost her keys again. She wants it logged. Hatten Ave., Rice Lake.

    Thursday, June 271:06 a.m. Caller says he just got back from vacation and his car was vandalized with toilet paper. He advised that this has happened before and some of his neighbors’ cars have been toilet papered as well. He requested to speak to an officer but will only be available via phone until morning. 1:16 a.m. Officer spoke with caller and will provide extra patrol. Messenger St., Rice Lake.

    6:48 a.m. Caller says for two years someone has been throwing a Ruby Red Mountain Dew bottle out in front of his house. He has been hiding trying to find out who. He now knows who is doing it and wants to talk to a deputy. 15th St., Rice Lake.

    9:53 a.m. Highway Department picked up a brand new mattress in the wrapping on Highway 53. They have it there. Cameron.

    3:11 p.m. Three-vehicle accident, one vehicle on its side. 3:14 p.m. Three people in the truck, all seem to be OK. 3:16 p.m. One male arm and shoulder pain, one male hit his head, female is very shaken up but she looks fine, is just breathing very hard. 3:17 p.m. Entrapment with one vehicle. 3:21 p.m. Four people requesting to be seen by EMS. 3:45 p.m. Mayo ER called requesting an officer secure the landing zone. 14th Ave. & 21½ St., Cameron.

    Friday, June 2810:56 a.m. Caller says someone used his information to obtain a duplicate driver’s license. 16¾ Ave., Rice Lake.

    11:24 a.m. 911 caller says a child was run over in the store parking lot. She advised she can hear the child crying and she is with her mother. Caller believes the child’s leg was ran over. Advised Rice Lake. Paged MMC ambulance. Officer advised to page mutual aid. Sent a one link. 11:33 a.m. Request to cancel Life Link. 11:39 a.m. Officer will be completing a crash report. West Ave., Rice Lake.

    4:09 p.m. 911 caller says a vehicle ran the stoplights and hit his daughter’s vehicle. The caller advised the vehicle then continued north on Main Street. His daughter is not injured and she is back at the residence. 4:21 p.m. No locate on the vehicle. En route to caller’s residence. 4:28 p.m. Officer advised to have Barron check residence for the vehicle. 4:42 p.m. Officer advised she located the offender vehicle at Knapp and Hammond. Officer spoke to female subject’s son who advised she had left to go to the store to get some insulin. 4:46 p.m. Officer advised to page EMS. The female is very confused and doesn’t know where she is. Paged MMC ambulance and Rice Lake Fire first responders. 5:06 p.m. Officer advised she will be completing a crash report. Rice Lake.

    6:13 p.m. Caller says a GMC pulling a trailer has passed several vehicles causing others to swerve to avoid a collision northbound on Highway 63 from Highway G. 6:26 p.m. No locate, Cumberland.

    6:54 p.m. Caller says a couple use a vehicle to deal meth out of. They usually park it in the public parking on the gas pump side of the store. Informational only. Caller unsure if they would be there now. Officer was advised and will keep an eye out for it. Knapp St., Chetek.

    9:42 p.m. Two to three cars are parked playing loud music and possibly drinking at the park. 9:59 p.m. Made contact with several individuals. They were advised of park hours and open intoxication. They were told to walk home and leave their vehicles. Lakeshore Dr., Rice Lake.
