Chocolates sold in Iowa and eight other states are part of a massive recall due to a risk of Salmonella poisoning. Earlier this year, the U.S. Food and Drugs Administration initiated a recall on more than four million pounds of chocolate and confectionary products from Clasen Quality Chocolate in Madison, Wisconsin.
Recreational boating banned on Mississippi River near Dubuque due to flooding
DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) - An order by the U.S. Coast Guard bans recreational boating on the Mississippi River near Dubuque due to flooding. “When the high water comes up like this, it grabs everything on the islands, trees erode in,” said Brent Groesch, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. “It’s a very dangerous situation to be in.”
Rock Valley man jailed for assault, more
ROCK VALLEY—An 18-year-old rural Rock Valley resident was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 30, on charges of assault and violation of a no contact/protective order. The arrest of Espn Jordan Green stemmed from him moving in with a protected individual and her family at their rural Rock Valley residence for about three weeks, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
Bedford man charged with murder in Clearfield shooting
(Clearfield) - A Bedford man is in custody on 1st degree murder charges after allegedly shooting a Lenox man Thursday morning. The Iowa DCI says authorities were called to Broadway Street in Clearfield just after 3 a.m. for a report of a shooting. Upon investigation, deputies found 19-year-old Colby Nelson dead from a gunshot wound.
State of Iowa settles UI Cambus accident suit
The State of Iowa and a woman injured when a University of Iowa Cambus slid on an icy road and hit her vehicle in 2018 have agreed to settle a suit ahead of trial. The Gazette reports that 48-year-old Yoland Parker sued for a million dollars for injuries to her knee, neck and back, and to recover damages for past and future medical costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering. She originally sued the driver as well as the state, but dropped the driver from the suit later.

Talus Renewables plans to build nearly 80 modular "green" ammonia plants in Iowa and other Midwestern states over the next two years. The green ammonia, produced with water, air and renewable energy, will be used to make nitrogen fertilizer needed by farmers to help grow crops that feed people and livestock.
