CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Sales of fireworks in city limits in Cedar Rapids are legal, but setting off the fireworks in city limits is not. Roger Jensen, the Vice President of the Freedom Foundation, a veteran’s organization, said the ease of access to fireworks in the city can hurt veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder.
Former Iowa Hawkeye Keegan Murray to tee off at John Deere Classic Pro-Am
SILVIS, Ill. (KWQC) - Former Iowa Hawkeye basketball star Keegan Murray will tee off at this year’s John Deere Classic Pro-Am on Wednesday. Murray is paired up with 2013 John Deere Classic Champion and Iowa-native Zach Johnson. The pair will play nine holes and they’re set to tee off on the 10th hole at 10:45 a.m.

Iowa and Wisconsin Men Indicted in Nationwide Multimillion-Dollar Return Fraud Scheme
The U.S. Attorney's Office in the Middle District of Florida has announced the arrests of two men, Brock David Fischer of Robins, Iowa, and Miguel Angel Fortier, Jr. from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in connection with an elaborate return-fraud scheme. Fischer, also known as "iFruit," and Fortier, known by the alias "Destined," are facing charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud. If convicted, they could each be looking at up to 20 years in a federal prison. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, the duo is part of a larger operation that has impacted retailers nationwide, with losses totaling more than $8 million.
Trees for Kids Grant Applications Due August 26
The popular Trees for Kids grant program is accepting applications through August 26. Grantees can be awarded up to $2,500 to purchase trees and mulch. All trees for this program must be planted on public community grounds (park, community center, public school, etc.) Youth are required to be engaged in the process, most often helping to plant the trees on site.
