(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A man is in custody after a high-speed chase that ended in a crash Tuesday morning. Police are identifying the suspect as 38 year-old Antonio McLaurin. Iowa and Wisconsin Men Indicted in Nationwide Multimillion-Dollar Return Fraud Scheme
The U.S. Attorney's Office in the Middle District of Florida has announced the arrests of two men, Brock David Fischer of Robins, Iowa, and Miguel Angel Fortier, Jr. from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in connection with an elaborate return-fraud scheme. Fischer, also known as "iFruit," and Fortier, known by the alias "Destined," are facing charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud. If convicted, they could each be looking at up to 20 years in a federal prison. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, the duo is part of a larger operation that has impacted retailers nationwide, with losses totaling more than $8 million.
Trees for Kids Grant Applications Due August 26
The popular Trees for Kids grant program is accepting applications through August 26. Grantees can be awarded up to $2,500 to purchase trees and mulch. All trees for this program must be planted on public community grounds (park, community center, public school, etc.) Youth are required to be engaged in the process, most often helping to plant the trees on site.
