RICHMOND, Ind. — Richmond police on Tuesday said they had arrested three juveniles in an attack on a homeless man who was sleeping in a local parking garage.

According to a press release issued by Adam Blanton, assistant chief of police, investigators used "surveillance footage, witness statements, and forensic evidence to track down the suspects."

The names of the suspects were not released because of their ages. They were taken into custody and face charges including vandalism and assault.

"We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of all members of our community, including our most vulnerable,” Police Chief Kyle Weatherly said in the release. "This arrest is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our officers, and the cooperation of our community members. We truly see the power we all have to make this city great when we work together.”

According to the news release, the Richmond Police Department "continues to work closely with local social service groups to provide support and resources to the unhoused population and to address the root causes of such incidents."
