MIDDLETOWN – As Donald Dwares prepared to fire the shotgun start for the 38th Annual Richard Bornstein Memorial Dwares JCC Golf Classic, on June 17, he told the golfers, “It’s a great day to be here together, it’s a great day for golf, and nothing pleases me more than seeing everyone here for the same cause: the Dwares JCC!”
Teen Wiffle Ball Tourney Raises Money for EG Special Olympics

However, as they got older, they took their love of the sport to the next level. In eighth grade the two started their own wiffle ball league, the Backyard Wiffle League, where players could compete on teams. Eventually they got rid of the league and established a tournament instead to help fund the field and other expenses. This year’s tournament took place June 21-22 and for the second year in a row, they donated profits to the relatively new East Greenwich Special Olympics team.
Field Hockey’s McMullen Named Coach of the Year

McMullen has forged the East Greenwich High School Field Hockey program into a powerhouse winning machine through talent, sure, but also through a rigorous practice schedule and team bonding traditions that invoke in her players a belief that they can win.
