    Richmond Leaders Pinpoint ‘Hot Spots’ for Gun Violence Across City

    Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Following a surge in deadly shootings across the city, Richmond leaders have pinpointed several areas they say are “hot spots” that see a high volume of gun violence.

    Officials with the Richmond Police Department looked at data from the past 5 years to identify hot spots in each precinct.

    The department said it used five categories of crime to narrow down the hotspots, such as murder involving a person shot, aggravated assaults involving a person shot, and robberies involving a person shot, as well as shootings into occupied homes and shootings into occupied vehicles.

    The following 21 areas are considered hot spots for gun violence by the Richmond Police Department:

    • 3400 block of Walmsley Boulevard
    • 4000 block of Midlothian Turnpike
    • 5700 block of Hull Street Road
    • 5800 block of Orcutt Lane
    • 2200 block of Ruffin Road
    • 1500 block of Clarkson Road
    • 1400 block of Jennie Scher Road
    • 1500 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike
    • 200 block of West Hill Street
    • 1900 block of Whitcomb Street
    • 1500 block of Harwood Street
    • 3500 block of Lawson Street
    • 3800 block of Chamberlayne Avenue
    • 1100 block of Richmond Highway
    • 2200 block of Deforrest Street
    • 1900 block of Raven Street
    • 2000 block of Accommodation Street
    • 600 block of Westover Hills Boulevard
    • 2100 block of Newbourne Street
    • 1000 block of St. John Street
