ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Two people were taken into custody Tuesday after a stolen car hit a Rochester police cruiser on Lyell Avenue in the city.

Police were called to Lyell Avenue near Daus Alley around 8:30 p.m. by someone who spotted their own stolen car with people inside. Police said the driver of the stolen vehicle sped off as soon as officers got to the scene, hitting a parked, unoccupied RPD cruiser.

Police chased the stolen car to Lyell Avenue at Myrtle Street, where they said it hit a curb, a stop sign, and a brick building. They said the driver fled on foot, and a passenger did not run.

The 25-year-old man allegedly driving the car was taken into custody, along with the 19-year-old woman passenger. No injuries were reported. Charges have not yet been determined.
