    City of Rochester enacts three-day cool sweep

    ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The City of Rochester has conducted a three-day cool sweep due to forecasted high temperatures.

    Starting July 3, the city’s R-Centers, pools, libraries, spray parks, and Durand Eastman Beach will have extended hours for residents. On the Fourth of July, all R-Centers will be closed and certain locations will have special hours. All spray parks will remain open.

    Here are the following areas and hours impacted by the cool sweep:

    • R-Centers — Open 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. M-F. Closed on the Fourth of July.
      • 85 Adams Street (Pool open from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
      • 200 Avenue D
      • 500 Carter Street
      • Frederick Douglass, 999 South Avenue
      • Edgerton, 41 Backus Street
      • Willie W. Lightfoot, 271 Flint Street
      • David F. Gantt, 700 North Street
      • Trenton and Pamela Jackson, 485 North Clinton Avenue (Pool open from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
      • Thomas P. Ryan, 530 Webster Avenue
    • Rochester Community Sports Complex — Open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. M-F. Closed on the Fourth of July.
    • Spray parks — Open 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
      • Carter Street R-Center
      • Edgerton R-Center
      • David F. Gantt R-Center
      • Thomas P. Ryan R-Center
      • Roxie Ann Sinkler R-Center, 75 Grover Street
      • Tyshaun Cauldwell R-Center for Hope, 524 Campbell Street
      • Humboldt R-Center, 1045 Atlantic Avenue
    • City Libraries — the Arnett, Lincoln, and Winston branches will have extended hours when temperatures reach 90 degrees. Those branches will close at 9 p.m.
    • Durand Eastman Beach — open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is open from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m on the Fourth of July.
    • Genesee Valley Park Pool — open from 12 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It is open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m on the Fourth of July.
