ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Rochester’s CrimeStoppers is offering a cash reward for information on the attack of an RTS bus driver last June.

According to Mayor Evans, those who provide information will be eligible for a cash reward between $500 to $2,000. Mayor Evans says he donated $1,000 to this cash fund.

This reward information is connected to an attack on June 18. RPD said an RTS bus driver picked up two males sitting at the bus stop on Bay Street. When the doors opened, one of them shot a BB gun at the driver before they both ran away.

The driver was hit in the upper body and was taken to a nearby hospital. His injuries were considered non-life-threatening, but RPD says this incident changed the driver’s life.

Mayor Evans highlighted the importance of RTS and its bus drivers for the community, saying those who don’t have cars and children rely on RTS bus service.

“To have an RTS bus driver pull up on a stop on Bay Street, open up the door that he does every day, and to have a coward shoot him with a BB gun is cowardly,” said Mayor Evans. “He has had extensive injuries and this has altered his life.”

Rochester police put out a photo of the suspect involved in the attack, but Mayor Evans says no one has come forward with information.
