At least one person dead after multiple people shot in Maplewood Park, Rochester, New York

One person is reported dead after multiple people were shot at Maplewood Park in Rochester, New York.

RochesterFirst reported that a 20-year-old died and six others are injured following a mass shooting at the park.

One is reported to be in a life-threatening condition and five others have been hospitalized with minor injuries.

They reported that Rochester Police first responded to the park at approximately 6.20pm after reports of shots fired.

Upon arrival, they are said to have found a number of people with gunshot wounds, as well as others fleeing in the park in terror.

The suspect/s are thought to be still at large, with police telling RochesterFirst that they have no one in custody at this time.

Captain Greg Bello told the outlet: "At this point we don’t know how many people were shooting. We are trying to work our way through that. We are trying to work our way through as many witnesses as we can."

Local journalist Geoffery Rogers at GSL News posted on X, formerly known as Twitter: "BREAKING NEWS: Multiple people were shot at least one person is dead after a shootout occurred at Maplewood Park. Multiple police agencies have the area lockdown."

He then shared a video of the traumatic scene , writing: "In this graphic video, you can see the moment first responders arrived. Chaos was happening all throughout the park. A handgun along with dozens of casings were also found at the scene. @GSLNews_"

Rogers later shared another video, alongside the caption: "I can’t believe what happened. So many people got shot at Maplewood Park."

News 8 journalist Gio Battaglia posted: "Just spoke with a resident on Maplewood Drive who said he was in his kitchen when he “thought he heard fireworks.” When he looked out his window, he told me he saw dozens, if not hundreds, of people running out of the Maplewood Park. @News_8 ."

13 ABC WHAM reported that "multiple police agencies are on the scene and have taped up Maplewood Park."
