ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Making your dollar stretch further is the goal behind the new partnership between ‘Field and Fork Network’ and Tops Friendly Markets.

This is an expansion of their ‘Double up food’ initiative, matching every SNAP dollar spent on fresh produce up to 20-dollars.

For example, if you use SNAP benefits on ten-dollars’ worth of fresh veggies you’ll be given a coupon for another 10-dollars to use the next time you shop.

This includes frozen produce for up to 5-dollars at three stores in the Rochester area.

“Frozen fruits and vegetables are a time saving and healthy choice offering many of the same nutritional benefits as fresh produce without having to spend the time washing and spending time peeling and chopping. As someone who has a busy schedule, I rely on those frozen fruits and vegetables often. For working parents, having a quick, healthy food option is key and I’m proud that our partnership is making that happen,” Mayor Malik Evans said.

The option to buy frozen produce with the ‘double up food’ program is currently only available at the Tops stores on Upper Fall Boulevard, West Avenue and East Ridge Road. To learn more about these resources visit this website .
