BELOIT — The Rock County Fury celebrated Senior Night in style Tuesday by blanking visiting Beaver Dam 2-0 at the Edwards Ice Arena to clinch the Badger Conference championship.

“We knew it would be a tough game going into it and with being Senior Night the girls stayed focused all game,” Fury head coach Luke Steurer said.

After a scoreless first period, the Fury put up two goals in the second, both scored by Macy Murphy off assists by Emma Kligora.

Rock County goaltender Jillian Traver made the 2-0 lead stand up with 34 saves.

“Jillian stood on her head tonight to get a shutout,” Steurer said. “She really made some spectacular saves to keep us ahead the whole game. This was really a team win with everyone working hard together and doing their part.”

The Badger crown was the Fury’s first since 2019.

“It was a little weight off our shoulders being able to clinch the title before our last conference game,” Steurer said. “It was a long time in the works with these girls that have been around for awhile now and helped rebuild this program from the years when we had low numbers. They stuck around for better and worse and are now reaping the benefits of hard work, loyalty and teamwork.”
