Challengers take first place in showcase

The NC Challengers softball team lost the final battle Sunday evening. But they won the war, and a cool grand to go with it.

The 18U travel team, made up of high school senior college prospects and recently graduated seniors who have signed with collegiate programs, took part in the East Coast Fireworks Showcase over the weekend, a three-day event that has been held for many years in Rock Hill, South Carolina. One of the venues used in the showcase is the college softball stadium for Winthrop University, and the Challengers were able to play there during their six-game stay. The winner of each pool bracket in the showcase receives a $1,000 prize for their victory.
