    North Bay youth baseball snack bar fire investigated as arson

    ( KRON ) — A youth baseball league's snack bar located at a field in Rohnert Park was ransacked and set on fire Monday night, according to authorities. Damages from the blaze and fire suppression efforts resulted in an estimated loss of $75,000, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety said.

    Rohnert Park fire personnel responded to Benicia Park, located at 7471 Bernice Avenue, after 11 p.m. to respond to a report of smoke. Arriving crews found a snack bar belonging to the Cal Ripken Baseball League on fire.

    Staff from the baseball league also reported to the scene and pointed out cut locks, intentional vandalism, damaged electronics and stolen merchandise, officials said. The stolen merchandise included candy, soda, chips and other food items.

    "The fire is being investigated as arson," Rohnert Park DPS said, "and more follow up and evidence analysis is being conducted."
