Local officials raise awareness for dead trees and branches
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — After the severe weather earlier in the summer, local officials are speaking out about trees in the area. With consecutive years of severe storms in the area, there is a close eye being kept on dead trees or hanging branches that could cause damage to power lines and property. Duke Energy district manager Rick Burger says the public can help by alerting the proper agencies before these trees fall.

Disaster Loan Center To Be Opened In Vigo County
Vigo County, In. – If you had damage from the storms\ that hit the Wabash Valley Last Month help from the Federal Government is available in the form of low interest disaster loans. The Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) and The Small Business Administration (SBA) are opening Disaster Loan Outreach Centers (DLOC) to help with the damage from the June 25 storms. The center in Vigo County will is located at Ivy Tech just south of Terre Haute. The center begins operation beginning today and will be open through August 5th. The center hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. SBA Customer Service representatives will be available to help with questions about the loan program and help with applications. IDHS staff will be able to help answer questions about the Indiana State Disaster Relief Fund. The fund can be used to cover losses when SBA loans are not eligible. Residents and businesses have until September 16 to return applications for any physical property damage.
