Man pleads guilty to dealing methamphetamine laced with insecticide
LOGANSPORT – Prosecutor Noah Schafer announced that Lonnie Pope Jr, 56, of Logansport, pled guilty in Cass Circuit Court on Monday to Dealing in Methamphetamine as a Level 2 Felony and to being a Habitual Offender. Pope had been scheduled to begin a jury trial that morning but opted to admit to all charges in lieu of a trial.

Chase Elliott finished 10th in the 2024 Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but it was an up-and-down day. Elliott was in the top 3 spots in Stage 1 and committed a blend line violation. The driver of the No. 9 car was black-flagged and forced to have a drive-through on pit road. Elliott was less than pleased and blew up on the radio to his No. 9 team. Elliott didn’t think he committed a penalty, but NASCAR didn’t give in to the No. 9 team. The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion laid into the sport, saying he did exactly what the sheet stated. It was one of Elliott’s most fiery radio communications in recent years, as the Brickyard 400 featured little passing and a need for track position.
