Woman’s body recovered from vehicle found overturned in Sac County river

SAC CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — A woman’s body was recovered from a vehicle that was found overturned in a Sac County river.

According to a release from the Sac County Sheriff’s Office, they were called to investigate a vehicle found overturned in the North Raccoon River at Hagge Park, about two miles south of Sac City, at around 10:18 a.m. Friday morning.

Officials were able to pull the vehicle, a 2008 red Jeep Cherokee, from the river using a tow truck and found a deceased woman in the vehicle.

The woman was identified as Samantha Trimpe, 30, of Breda, Iowa.

Officials said that the tire patterns observed at the scene indicated no sudden braking or change in direction before the vehicle ended up in the river.

Trimpe’s body is being examined by the Office of the State Medical Examiner. Officials said that there is no sign of foul play at this time.

The Sac County Sheriff’s Office was aided by the Sac City Police Department, Sac City Fire Department, Sac County EMS, and the Sac County Medical Examiner Investigator.
