(FOX40.COM) — The California Highway Patrol has released the exact location of the DUI checkpoint that will be held in Sacramento on Friday night.

CHP’s DUI checkpoint will be one of two held in Sacramento on Friday night, with the other one being operated by the Sacramento Police Department in Midtown from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Beginning at 9 p.m., CHP will be set up on westbound Florin Road, just west of the Florin Road Mall as it conducts “proactive enforcement” along the roadway.

CHP officers will be checking sobriety levels and driver’s licenses at the checkpoint while warning drivers of the dangers of drinking and driving.

The DUI checkpoint in Sacramento is in addition to the Maximum Enforcement Period the agency is conducting throughout California during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

During the MEP in 2023, CHP reported nearly 70 people were killed in a crash on California’s roadways during the Fourth of July weekend . The agency also issued over 9,000 citations and made over 1,200 arrests for driving under the influence.
