    Sacramento man dies from crash along I-5 in Fresno County

    (FOX40.COM) — A Sacramento man died along Interstate 5 in Fresno County on Monday evening after swerving into traffic, according to the California Highway Patrol.

    The 85-year-old man was heading southbound in the far right lane along I-5 when he made a sharp turn left into the far left lane and into the path of a Chevrolet driven by Joshua Adams, 32.

    Adams said he was traveling between 70 and 75 mph when the man’s Ford swerved into his lane causing Adams to crash into the front passenger side of the vehicle.

    After the two vehicles came to rest on their wheels, the Sacramento man’s Ford caught fire and bystanders were able to pull him from the vehicle before it was fully engulfed, according to the CHP.

    Adams had only minor injuries from the crash while the Sacramento man died of his injuries.

    Law enforcement does not believe that drugs and or alcohol contributed to the collision.
