Little League: Randolph and Rincon win District 12 championships
Copper Hills (Sahuarita) beat Randolph 12-7 on Thursday to take a 1-0 lead in the District 12 Little League Softball Tournament held at Manzanita Park but Randolph tied the series up 1-1 on 9-6 win Friday night and an 11-6 victory on Saturday clinched the District championship for the team from Field of Dreams.

A LOOK BACK — NO. 63 JOHN BRANDOM. With it being the 63rd day until kickoff between the Lobos and Wildcats, the best player to wear No. 63 for Arizona is offensive guard John Brandom, who played with the program from 1986-89. He teamed with Arizona great Glenn Parker to make a formidable right side of the line. Brandom went on to be a successful head coach at Corona (Calif.) High School for 16 years from 1996 to 2011. He went on to coach at Riverside (Calif.) Hillcrest High School from 2015 to 2018. Brandom was with Parker at a Cholla High School football game last year and mentioned he is looking at the possibility of coaching again after moving to Tucson recently.

The Big XII released its conference slate of games for 2024-25, and direly missing is a home-and-away between Arizona Basketball and Kansas Basketball. Arizona Basketball and Kansas Basketball are two of the more storied programs in college basketball history. Both programs have a rich tradition of success, national championships, and a long list of NBA Alumni. However, despite their storied histories, the two teams have only met on the court a handful of times, with their last meeting dating back to 2010 when they met in Vegas.
Cohesive Rincon All-Stars earn District 12 9-10-11 baseball championship
Make it a remarkable four straight years of District 12 championships for Rincon All-Stars manager Eddie Sapp, his son Braxton and Calvin Williams. The elder Sapp’s 9-10-11 team won the district championship game 15-0 in three innings over San Xavier on Saturday night at Anamax Park at Sahuarita. The Sapps and Williams were part of the 8-9-10 district championship teams the three previous seasons. They won the state championship of that age bracket last season at Purple Heart Park.
