NE auditor alleges mishandling of public funds by nonprofit helping to manage Niobrara Scenic River
LINCOLN — Nebraska’s state auditor has questioned the handling of public funds by a small nonprofit that helps manage the Niobrara Scenic River corridor. Governor Pillen in Valentine to discuss tax plan
About 70 people showed up to hear about Governor Pillens plan for property tax relief at Mid Plains Community College in Valentine this morning. The crowd was a cross section of people including numerous ranchers, some business owners, school representatives, city and county officials and people from the chamber, tourism and economic development. The Governor spent about 45 minutes presenting information about his tax plan, then began to take questions.

KVSH Radio is planning some special events in July. On July 4th, KVSH will play patriotic music after the Demolition Derby and during the Fireworks display. We will play the music through the PA system at the fairgrounds and over the airwaves for everyone to listen while they enjoy the fireworks show. You can enjoy the music at the fairgrounds, watching in your car or from your own yard while enjoying the fireworks sponsored by the Cherry County Ag Society. RST Elders Honored
ROSEBUD –The Rosebud Sioux Tribe coordinated a gathering for Sicangu elders to provide a meal, entertainment, social dances and honoring for tribal citizens aged 60+ years. Organizers publicly recognized several Sicangu elders who have reached the golden age of 90+ years. They were Lois Antoine, Muriel Antoine, Marie Waln, Victoria Plumman, Rose Little Thunder, Clara Carpenter, Pauline Jackson, Justice Colin Sr., Velma Witt and Dorothy Marshall.
Valentine Swim Team Fundraiser
The Valentine swim team hosted a fund-raising event last evening at the Valentine Family Aquatic center. By the size of the crowd, it looked to be a success. Hendersons IGA grilled burgers and hot dogs for the crowd. Birk Burge of KVSH Radio emceed the event which included a cannonball and belly flop contest. He also provided music to keep things going. The swim team, Also raced the lifeguards in a relay race. The event was cut short by a thunderstorm moving in with lightning and thunder. Swim team coaches will let KVSH radio know the total amount raised when they get a chance to tally it up. Coach Teifenthauler told the crowd she was thankful for the support and amazed by the crowd.

George Allen Allard was born September 17th, 1951, to Donald and Ruth (Overman) Allard in Valentine, NE. He was the third sibling with two brothers and two sisters. He attended grade school in Crookston, NE and graduated from Valentine High School in 1969. He worked for the Texaco gas station and for his family at their bar in Crookston during high school.
