SHS Class of 1979 gathers for reunion
The Springfield High School Class of 1979 celebrated its forty-fifth anniversary class reunion in Springfield June 29. The group gathered at the American Legion Club, took a school tour and enjoyed other Riverside Days activities. Quilts and gardens merge for tour
FAIRMONT — Operating for around 40 years, the Prairie Star Quilt Guild has been creating art and elaborate designs through quilts while hosting events to show off their work. After several years of no events to showcase their collective works, the Quilt Guild and gardeners around the county are exited to partner up and put on a new fundraiser. The Prairie Star Garden and Quilt Tour will begin at 1 pm and conclude at 4:30 pm, on July 13 at St. James Lutheran Church, Northrop.

FAIRMONT– Funeral Service for Irene M. Ponstein, age 97, of Fairmont, MN, will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Fairmont with interment in Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Irene passed away on Thursday morning, July 4, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
St Paul’s luncheon next Wednesday
TRUMAN — It’s farmers market time from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, July 13, at Graf Park in Truman. Vendors are welcome to come and sell. There is no charge to be a vendor. The power of produce program will be offered to Truman area youth and senior citizens this summer. The program encourages healthy eating by allowing the use of tokens to purchase fruits, vegetables, eggs, and produce from their local farmers market and Granada gardens located in Nickerson’s Body Shop lot. Pop up shop for Truman Days memorabilia will also be available at Graf Park on Saturday.

Steak fry Saturday at Sherburn Legion
SHERBURN — The Sherburn Library has storytime sessions at 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays. They also have a Boredom Buster at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. Check out all the fun activities. The Sherburn Legion will hold a Steak Fry Night from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, July 13. Choose from ribeye, shrimp or smoked pork chop along with baked potato and salad bar for only $20. Sherburn Legion will also have a ‘Hamburger Night’ from 6-8 p.m. on July 17. Sounds very delicious especially if you do not have to make the supper.
