Cardinals' former prospect is heating up down in minor leagues

Last season, the St. Louis Cardinals finished 71-91 and missed the postseason for the first time since 2018. One of the few bright spots was slugger Jordan Walker.

This season, the Cardinals haven't seen much of Walker, who was sent down to Triple-A in April after starting the year hitting just .155. However, Walker may be finding his groove again at Triple-A.

Fantasy Baseball writer Eric Cross tweeted a video of Walker hitting a home run for the Memphis Redbirds.

St. Louis has struggled offensively this season. The team is tied with the Pittsburgh Pirates for 21st in Major League Baseball in runs scored.

As a team, St. Louis is hitting just .245 this season. But Walker's progress at Triple-A has to be encouraging.

The Cardinals recently called up Victor Scott II to replace the injured Michael Siani. But Walker is certainly making a case to rejoin the team at some point later this season or potentially crack the Opening Day roster in 2025.

The 22-year-old hit .276 last season with 16 home runs, 51 RBI, and a .787 OPS in 2023, so there is still plenty of potential with the former top prospect.

It will be interesting to see if he can stay hot at Triple-A and ultimately find his way back to the big leagues. St. Louis could use another presence from the right side of the plate in order to bolster their offense.
