ST. MICHAEL — A 22-year-old driver from Big Lake, suspected of being intoxicated, was injured during a single-car crash on Interstate 94 in St. Michael Thursday afternoon.

Connor Jess Roberts was driving a 2014 Ford Focus eastbound on I-94 near where it intersects with Highway 241 when the car left the roadway, striking the Crow River Bridge and rolling, according to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol.

Roberts, who was wearing her seat belt at the time, was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis with non-life-threatening injuries, the patrol said.

The accident happened at about 3 p.m., snarling traffic at a busy time of day. Traffic was diverted as the eastbound lanes of I-94 were closed.

Road conditions were dry at the time, but alcohol was believed to be involved, according to the accident report.

Members of the Wright County Sheriff’s Office along with an Alina Health Ambulance and Life Link helicopter all responded to the scene.
