The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will host three webinars and a public meeting in August on charting a sustainable future for state hatcheries.

The webinars will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8 and Aug. 15. The public meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 28 at the ODFW Salem headquarters.

The 2023 Oregon Legislature and third-party contractors conducted an assessment of the 14 hatcheries owned by the state.

During the meetings, ODFW will share information gathered and will seek public input for creating a sustainable hatchery system that addresses the challenges of aging infrastructure, climate change and rising operation costs.

The webinars will be recorded and posted on ODFW’s hatchery sustainability website .
