As if San Diegans didn’t have enough activities to choose from in the summer now there’s a new pop-culture themed entertainment option at the Comic-Con Museum.

The Balboa Park-based museum is launching a series of after-hours evening events being called “Summer Nights at Comic-Con Museum.” The events will occur upcoming Fridays, except for July 5, leading up to the start of the annual Comic-Con International convention in downtown San Diego at the end of July.

The museum events are themed nights that will be free to museum members and open to the public for a $15 admission cost.

The first themed night is Friday, June 14, and will celebrate the cosplay culture where fans dress up as their favorite superhero or character. Activities will include a fashion show and cosplayers sharing tips.

Here is the rest of the lineup:

Friday, June 21: Dungeons & Dragons. Visitors will embark on an epic journey into the fantastical, where they can decide their own fate.

Friday, June 28: Competitive Puzzle Building. Teams of fans will compete to finish 500-piece puzzles for the chance to win prizes, including Comic-Con Museum–exclusive merchandise.

Friday, July 12: Makerspace. This event is designed as a child-friendly, hands-on experience where guests will have the chance to explore, design, and create a variety of unique projects.

Friday, July 19: Zombicide Game Night This will feature an interactive game where teams will compete to eliminate zombies.

“Our event series expands our hub for the popular arts and extends the learning and fun around shared interests, competition and fandoms,” says Comic-Con Museum Executive Director Rita Vandergaw.

Attendees will have an opportunity to purchase snacks, beer, wine and other beverages. Alcohol will not be served at the child-friendly event.

Attendance is limited for each event. Event admission is not included with general admission Museum tickets, as exhibits will be closed during Summer Nights. General admission will close at 5 p.m. during the event series and the themed events will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at bit.ly/CCMSummerNights or at the museum door while tickets last.
