Trading for San Francisco 49ers ' wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk would come at a steep price for the New York Jets .

The 49ers' WR1, who is seeking a fat contract extension, has reportedly requested a trade out of San Francisco, but the team adding Aiyuk will have to back up a Brinks truck for him upon arrival. The 26-year-old emerging star will likely command a monster deal with a $25+ million average annual value as the floor in negotiations.

Spotrac salary cap guru Michael Ginnitti offered a contract projection for Aiyuk on Wednesday, tabbing the 2020 first-round draft pick for "a 4 year, $104M extension in our valuation system, including $66M practically guaranteed."

Ginnitti proceeded to provide perspective on how the projected deal would stack up against the NFL's highest-paid wide receivers.

"At $26M+ per year, Aiyuk would slot in as the 8th highest average paid WR in football," said Ginnitti in his post on the social media site now knows as X.

Assuming the Jets would be comfortable extending Aiyuk at the high price, there are two other factors that could potentially prevent the situation from becoming reality. First, the 49ers are reportedly interested in retaining Aiyuk and could command a hefty haul in exchange for the disgruntled WR1. Then, there's the fact that New York has approximately $6 million in salary cap space remaining for 2024 when Aiyuk is scheduled to earn $14.12 million on the fifth-year option.

After examining the situation, it appears as if a Jets' trade for Aiyuk is no more likely than a deal for Las Vegas Raiders' All-Pro WR Davante Adams.
