San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Blake Snell.

After a rough start to his 2024 season, San Francisco Giants pitcher Blake Snell has been dialed in over his last few starts, and he was absolutely dominant Friday night.

Facing the Cincinnati Reds, the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner threw the first no-hitter and complete game of his nine-year career while striking out 11 Reds batters on 114 pitches.

After winning the Cy Young for the San Diego Padres in 2023 by going 14-9 with a 2.25 ERA while striking out 234 batters in 180 innings pitched, Snell spent most of the offseason as a free agent before signing with the Giants late into spring training .

Over his first six starts as a member of the Giants, Snell was 2-4 with a 9.51 ERA and had allowed 25 runs in only 23.2 innings pitched before heading on to the injured list.

Since returning on July 9, the 31-year-old left-hander has been baseball's hottest pitcher. During his last four starts before tonight's no-hitter, Snell posted a 3-1 record including a 0.75 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 24 innings pitched.

He became one of only seven pitchers in MLB history to win the Cy Young Award in both leagues last season, his other came in 2018 as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Snell has been one of baseball's elite lefties since making his MLB debut with the Rays in 2016, and it's safe to say that he has shaken off the rust from missing the majority of spring training as the 2024 season progresses.

With the Giants now only four and a half games out of a wild-card spot, the Giants own one of the best one-two punches atop their rotation in Snell and Logan Webb and could be a team that sneaks their way into the postseason in 2024.
