Guest Opinion | Jonathan Gardner: Pasadena Unified School District Students Deserve the Best Teachers
For decades, in Pasadena area politics, there has been an undercurrent of feelings about some of our students which needs to be called out and remedied. Maranatha High AP Chemistry Students Achieve Exceptional Scores, Outperform Global Average
As the AP teachers at Maranatha High School in Pasadena, California, begin to delve into the data on their students’ performance on the AP exams held in May, a wave of good news and excitement has started to spread throughout the school. One of the most notable achievements comes from the AP Chemistry course, a notoriously challenging first-year college-level subject. This year, 15 students undertook the grueling, over three-hour-long AP Chemistry exam. Remarkably, while 25% of students in California and globally scored a 1 or 2, none of Maranatha’s students fell into this category. Every single AP Chemistry student at Maranatha scored between a 3 and a 5, with the majority achieving scores of 4 or 5. Furthermore, Maranatha students outperformed the global average on each of the seven free-response questions, a significant accomplishment that speaks volumes about their dedication and preparation.
