According to a source, THN was informed that the San Jose Sharks prospect scrimmage stream had 23,000 fans watching across all channels.

3,300 fans rolled into Tech CU Arena on July 4th to watch Macklin Celebrini and other top prospects. Many more fans who weren't in the building tuned in to watch the livestream.

Replies to this post had fans watching from Montreal, Lake Tahoe, and Charlotte, NC. Since GM Mike Grier took over in 2022, the Sharks have drafted many top prospects.

The prospect scrimmage rounds out the yearly development camp each year, and fans can watch the next wave of players. This season felt different. Director of Player Development Todd Marchant told reporters that Macklin Celebrini has "brought a buzz back to the San Jose Sharks organization."

Defense prospect Eric Pohlkmap said that the 2023 prospect scrimmage had a good crowd, but it didn't match this season's.

"I think last year was a pretty good crowd, but this year was [I was] thinking [it is] way better. My sister was here, and she runs her own business. I think she brought 15 of her employees here, and they've never been to a hockey game, so they have no idea what is going on," Pohlkamp said. "I'm sure they enjoyed this one. It was a high scoring game and you get to see guys [Celebrini] play. I'm sure they enjoyed it."

Pohlkamp capped off a four-goal comeback with a blast from the point late in the game.

The Sharks' future looks much brighter, with players like Celebrini, Pohlkamp, and Will Smith coming up through the ranks, and fans have noticed.
