Puppy reunited with family after armed robbery in San Jose

( KRON ) – A furry friend was returned to his caregivers after being stolen in an armed robbery, according to the San Jose Police Department.

The armed robbery occurred at 8 p.m. on Wednesday. A couple was with their four-month-old Shih Tzu puppy when they were robbed at gunpoint for their dog.

The husband bought the wife the puppy after a traumatic event occurred as a gift, police said.

San Jose police officers conducted a preliminary investigation that identified the suspect's vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a felony stop. According to SJPD, officers found a firearm and two loaded magazines. The puppy's owners identified the driver as the assailant.

A search of the suspect's home also yielded two AR-style rifles and the Shih Tzu puppy.

The pup was returned to its humans.
