New road could be solution to Elm Street School traffic
LACONIA — Traffic jams on Elm Street, caused by parents waiting to pick up or drop off their children at school, have caught the attention of City Hall. Superintendent Steve Tucker will update the school board about this development at its meeting on Tuesday, July 16. The meeting will be held at the district office at 39 Harvard St. beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Annual Project Pencil Program prepares for upcoming school year
LACONIA — The Children’s Foundation of the St. Vincent de Paul Society will continue its Annual Project Pencil Program this year. During the past 34 years Project Pencil has continued to help approximately 600 pre-school, elementary, middle and high school age children each September by providing them with backpacks, lunchboxes, and other back-to-school supplies. Project Pencil benefits students in public, private and parochial schools, child care centers, nursery schools, elementary, middle and high schools in Laconia, Gilford, Belmont, Gilmanton, Meredith and Tilton.
