One year after a Rohnert Park man was killed outside a Santa Rosa fast food restaurant, police said two Clearlake men were arrested on suspicion of committing the fatal shooting.

Daniel Perez-Mendoza, 22, and Christopher Perez-Mendoza, 19, were arrested Wednesday during a traffic stop on Mark West Springs Road, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.

They’re suspected of murder, possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle and possession of a non-serialized firearm.

Officials didn’t say if the suspects are related.

The two are accused of fatally shooting Jeffrey Farinha, 40, on July 23, 2023, outside Jack in the Box at Santa Rosa Avenue and Burt Street.

Both were being held without bail Wednesday at the Sonoma County jail. Records show they’re scheduled to appear in Sonoma County Superior Court on Friday but charges have not been filed.

Police found Farinha with multiple gunshot wounds in the restaurant’s drive-thru. Police on Wednesday said he was involved in a disturbance at an apartment on Burt Street before encountering the suspects in the Jack in the Box parking lot.

Investigators used witness accounts, surveillance footage and digital evidence to identify the suspects, according to police.

Officials searched homes in Clearlake, Lakeport and Santa Rosa where they confiscated five handguns, a rifle and other evidence, police said.
