    2 suspects arrested in fatal 2023 shooting at Jack in the Box drive-through

    ( KRON ) — Two suspects have been arrested in the fatal 2023 shooting of a man at a Jack in the Box drive-through , the Santa Rosa Police Department announced Wednesday. Police were called to the Jack in the Box location at 2755 Santa Rosa Avenue just after 11:31 p.m. on Sunday, July 23 on a report of a shooting.

    At the scene, officers discovered the victim, later identified as Jeffrey Farinha, lying on the ground unresponsive in front of the drive-through. Farinha, 40, of Rohnert Park, was believed to have been involved in an altercation with two suspects at a nearby apartment complex on Burt Street. According to police, he encountered the suspects at the Jack in the Box parking lot and one of them took out a handgun and shot him multiple times .

    He died of his injuries.

    The Santa Rosa PD Violent Crimes Investigations Team took over the case and, despite being initially hindered by limited evidence, pursued leads through witness accounts, surveillance footage, and digital evidence.

    During the course of the investigation, Daniel Perez-Mendoza, 22, and Christopher Perez-Mendoza, 19, both of Clearlake, were identified as suspects. On Wednesday, SRPD officers conducted a coordinated traffic stop on Mark West Springs Road and arrested both suspects without incidents.

    Officers served warrants at residences in Clearlake, Lakeport and Santa Rosa, resulting in the seizure of five handguns, one rifle, and “additional pertinent evidence,” police said. The suspects have been booked into Sonoma County Jail on charges that include:

    • Murder
    • Possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle
    • Possession of a non-serialized firearm
