EASTERN UPPER PENINSULA — Communities across the Eastern Upper Peninsula are preparing to celebrate July 4 with fireworks, floats and fun.

    Sault Ste. Marie

The annual Fourth of July parade, which includes dozens of cars, floats and marchers, will be lining up behind U-Haul Moving and Storage at 7 p.m. The parade route will march north up Ashmun and down Portage. After the parade comes to an end on Magazine Street, people will converge on Brady Park at dusk to watch the fireworks display over the St. Marys River.

The first few blocks of the parade are reserved as a quiet zone until it passes 12th Avenue. Parade participants will be competing for several awards, including best float, best walking group and more.
