Nine Line pays tribute to man killed during Trump assassination attempt

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – A Savannah and veteran-owned business, Nine Line Apparel, is helping out a Pennsylvania family after tragedy struck during former President Donald Trump’s rally on Saturday.

Corey Comperatore, a veteran, fire chief and father of two, was shot and killed during the assassination attempt while shielding his family.

Comperatore was a Nine Line Apparel customer and is seen in pictures wearing their apparel.

The company says they are a give-back organization, striving to give back to the military and first responders community.

Nine Line CEO Tyler Merritt said when they saw Comperatore wearing their clothing, they immediately began planning how to honor him.

Merritt said he has been in contact with the Comperatore family. He told News 3 they spoke about their history with Nine Line Apparel.

“His daughter explained that the majority of his wardrobe is Nine Line and that he had an extreme affinity for our company, for what we believed in and what we stood for,” Merritt said. “That obviously hit home for us.”

The company has created a t-shirt in Comperatore’s honor. Merritt said orders have come in from across the nation and worldwide. News 3 is told they have printed more than 1,000 shirts already, which is continuing to climb.

Merritt shared the thought process behind the creation of the shirt.

“It was unfortunate that the time that the shots rang out was 6:11 [p.m.],” Meritt said. “Chapter six, verse 11 in Ephesians talks about heroes putting on the armor of God to protect those who they care about. So, that bible verse happened to fit perfectly for this incident. The shirt itself is a reminiscing of that verse.”

Proceeds from the shirts will benefit Comperatore’s family, and a GoFundMe is available for direct donations.
