You can swim for free at these New York pools this summer
If you're a frequenter of the city's and state's many public swimming pools, you're by now familiar with the $2 entry fee that most of them ask for. That's, however, changing this summer: Governor Kathy Hochul just announced that the state is completely waiving entry fees at 14 state parks for the rest of the season. The list includes two public pools located in New York City: Roberto Clemente State Park Pool in the Bronx and the Riverbank State Park Pools in Manhattan.

Two Union County teams punched their tickets to the State Tournament to be held at Sayre-Wood South but only one would win the Cal Ripken, Jr. District 12 12U Championship at Gumbert Field 2 in Westfield on June 29. The third-seeded Scotch Plains-Fanwood Raiders seized an early 3-0 lead but the top-seeded Cranford Cougars clawed their way back in the later innings to grasp a 6-4 victory.
Rutgers football lands Pennsylvania 3-star Gavin Sidwar
Three-star quarterback Gavin Sidwar committed to Rutgers football on Monday, becoming the Big Ten program’s first commitment in the class of 2026. Sidwar is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound quarterback prospect at La Salle College (Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania). June 26, 1920 – Lou Gehrig gets his first national mention when, as a high school junior for New York City’s School of Commerce, he steals the show in a high school championship game against Lane Tech in Chicago at Wrigley Field . The game was played in front of a crowd of more than 10,000 spectators. His grand slam home run, only the 19th ever hit in the ballpark, in the 8th gave the New York team a 12 – 8 victory. Binghamton Swimming & Diving Sets Six Pool Records in Senior Day Sweep vs. Wagner
VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton swimming & diving teams sent their 21 seniors out in style, setting six pool records and sweeping Wagner in its annual Senior Day Meet on Saturday afternoon at the Saunders Aquatic Center. The Bearcat men defeated the Seahawks 203-92 while the women took a 192-105 decision. Binghamton had nine women and 12 men honored before the meet during the program’s annual Senior Day ceremony.
